Three Injured in Rollover Wreck on Georgia Highway 204 in Savannah, Georgia
SAVANNAH, GA. – According to a news story reported online at savannahnow.com, three people were injured in a rollover wreck that occurred in Savannah, Georgia. One person was trapped inside of a vehicle after the collision, according to the news story, and had to be extricated by fire rescue crews that responded to the scene.*
The accident occurred on Georgia Highway 204 in Savannah, near to the Forest River Bridge. The report from Savannah Morning News states that an SUV that had been traveling eastbound somehow rolled multiple times and ran off the highway, coming to a stop in a marsh near the bridge.
No information was reported about what caused the SUV to flip. It is unclear if the SUV was the only vehicle involved in the collision.
Savannah Morning News reports that one person involved in the accident was trapped inside the SUV after the wreck. An off-duty firefighter drove by the scene and stopped to assist while emergency crews were on their way. Fire crews then worked to extricate the trapped individual.
According to Savannah Morning News, the person who had been trapped in the SUV was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, along with two other people who sustained unknown injuries. None of the people was identified in the report.
Savannah Fire Rescue and Georgia State Patrol responded to the scene. The highway was closed down on the eastbound side while crews investigated and helped the victims. It is not clear how long the roadway was shut down. Georgia State Patrol is leading the accident investigation.
