Georgia Man Killed in Vehicle Accident in Virginia
HANOVER, VA. – According to a news story reported online at wric.com, a Georgia man was killed in a vehicle accident that occurred in Hanover, Virginia. Investigators have identified the victim and reported that three other people were also injured in the accident, which happened on Interstate 95.*
The crash occurred in the early afternoon near mile marker 96 on Interstate 95 North in Hanover. Virginia State Police and WRIC report that a 1998 Chevrolet S10 was headed northbound on the interstate and was traveling in the center lane. The driver of the Chevy reportedly veered into the left lane and crashed into a northbound Ford Mustang.
Police reported that the impact of the crash caused both the Chevy and the Ford to leave the roadway on the left side. It is not clear why the driver of the Chevy left his lane of travel. The news report did not say whether he was trying to change lanes or whether he swerved for some reason.
WRIC reports that the Chevy driver was seriously injured in the wreck, and emergency responders took him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials identified him as a man from Brunswick, Georgia. WRIC further reported that an unidentified female passenger in the Chevy was also seriously injured and transported to a hospital. Her current condition is not known.
The driver of the Ford and a passenger in the Ford, who were not identified, were also injured in the accident, according to WRIC. Their injuries were described as minor, and it is not clear if they required treatment beyond the scene.
