Two Vehicle Accident Leaves One Dead and Three Others Injured
IROQUOIS COUNTY, IL – According to an online news report at newsbug.info, a man is dead and three others are injured after a two-vehicle accident that occurred in Iroquois County, Illinois.*
A man, aged 51 from Dry Ridge, Kentucky, was a passenger of a twenty six year old man, also from Dry Ridge, who was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was pulling a trailer. A third passenger was in the vehicle, a forty eight year old woman.
Per an investigation conducted by the Illinois State Police, the man driving the Dodge Ram was going in an easterly direction on 3400 North at Route 45/52. A 2013 semi-truck that was hauling a tanker trailer was driven by a fifty seven year old man, and was going in a northerly direction on Route 45/52.
The driver of the Dodge did not stop at a stop sign and came into the path of the semi-truck as he entered onto Route 45/52. This caused the tractor-trailer to slam into the Dodge. The occupants of both vehicles were taken to area hospitals for their injuries. A passenger of the Dodge died as a result of the impact of the accident. He was pronounced dead at an area hospital following the accident. The driver of the Dodge was issued a citation for failing to yield at a stop intersection. The road was closed to traffic for about ninety minutes as emergency crews worked the scene.
The accident remains under investigation at this time. There are no further details on the accident at this time.
