Driver Killed in Collision Between Car, Box Truck in Maudlin, South Carolina

MAUDLIN, SC. – According to a news report published online at foxcarolina.com, a driver was killed in a collision between a car and a box truck in Maudlin, South Carolina. No one involved in the accident, including the victim, has been identified at this time. Authorities were encouraging drivers to find alternate routes during the on-scene investigation.*

The accident took place in the late afternoon on U.S. Highway 276 in Maudlin. The Maudlin Police Department and Fox Carolina report that at about 4:30 p.m. that day, a box truck and a passenger car were somehow involved in a collision in front of Ricky’s Pools on U.S. 276. 

The make and model of the car were not reported, nor was any information about the company affiliated with the box truck. It is not clear from the news report how the crash occurred. Investigators responding to the scene did not provide immediate information about the events leading to the collision. 

Fox Carolina reports that the driver of the one of the vehicles sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The report says the driver was a man but does not say which vehicle he had been driving. The coroner’s office reportedly stated that an autopsy would be performed. 

The driver of the other vehicle was not identified, and it is not clear if he or she was injured. The Maudlin Police Department investigated at the scene, and crews shut down the highway during this time. Drivers were advised to use Forrester Road while the roadway remained closed. The investigation is ongoing.
