One Taken to Hospital After Logging Truck Accident in Hamilton County, Tennessee
HAMILTON COUNTY, TN. – According to a news report posted online by newschannel9.com, one person was taken to a hospital after a logging truck accident occurred in Hamilton County, Tennessee. It appears the collision involved a vehicle rear-ending the log truck, which resulted in a large scale cleanup on the roadway.*
The accident occurred in the early morning on Tennessee Highway 111 in Hamilton County. Tennessee Highway Patrol and News Channel 9 report that at approximately 6 a.m., a pickup truck was traveling south on Highway 111. Near Jones Gap Road and Soddy-Daisy, the pickup truck reportedly crashed into the back of a logging truck.
The news report did not say what caused the accident or what events might have led to the rear-end collision. A large amount of debris came off the log truck and scattered across the roadway after the accident. Crews worked for several hours to clean up the debris and closed down all of the southbound lanes during the cleanup effort.
News Channel 9 reports that the driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries in the wreck and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was identified as a man from Dunlap, Tennessee. His injuries were described as not life-threatening.
News Channel 9 also reports that the driver of the logging truck was not seriously injured and received treatment at the scene. The log truck driver was identified as a resident of Altamont, Tennessee. It is not clear if any passengers were in either of the two vehicles.
Tennessee Highway Patrol Troopers are still investigating the crash.
