Atlanta Police Still Looking for Hit-and-Run Driver Involved in Buckhead Fatality

May 26, 2019

BUCKHEAD, GA. – According to an online news report posted at cbs46.com, the Atlanta Police Department is still looking for a driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened in Buckhead, Georgia, outside of a nightclub. A witness to the accident says she hopes the driver will surrender to police.*

The incident happened outside of Johnny’s Hideaway. It appears that a pedestrian was trying to walk across Roswell Road and stumbled, then fell. Investigators say that a passing vehicle then ran over the pedestrian.

CBS 46 reports that the pedestrian, identified as a 31-year-old man, did not survive. The driver of the vehicle did not stop. Police officers are still searching for the driver and have been requesting information from the public to try to solve the case.

Police said the vehicle involved is a dark-colored sedan. They did not provide a make or model. However, a purported witness to the accident says she saw a different vehicle - a red Jeep Wrangler leaving the scene. She is calling on the driver to make things right and surrender to police.

“They would have known that they hit something,” the witness said to reporters. “We want to catch this person. Whether it was an accident or not, do the right thing, turn yourself in, and get it all sorted out, but you have to live with this.”

Anyone who might have information about the vehicle or the driver is urged to contact the Atlanta Police Department or Atlanta Crime Stoppers.
