Charges Filed in Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash in Henry County, Georgia
HENRY COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report posted by fox5atlanta.com, criminal charges have been filed in the case of a fatal tractor-trailer crash that occurred in Henry County, Georgia. The collision involved three vehicles, including two tractor-trailers, and caused the deaths of four people.*
The accident took place on Interstate 75 in McDonough, Georgia, which is located in Henry County. Officers with the Henry County Police Department say that a tractor-trailer traveling on I-75 rear-ended a 2013 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, which forced the pickup truck into the back of another tractor-trailer.
The first tractor-trailer was carrying a load of potatoes, the second tractor-trailer was carrying a load of rubber, and the pickup truck was pulling a trailer loaded with pine straw. Police said that the pickup and the second tractor-trailer had slowed down on the interstate due to traffic, and the first tractor-trailer didn’t slow down in time.
After the collision between the vehicles, a fire broke out. Fox 5 reports that the four people who had been riding in the pickup truck were killed in the accident. The victims included the 42-year-old male driver from Dublin, Georgia, a 31-year-old passenger from Dublin, a 26-year-old passenger from Dublin, and a 20-year-old passenger from Dublin.
Fox 5 also states the driver of the second tractor-trailer sustained minor injuries. According to the news report, the driver of the first tractor-trailer, a 39-year-old man from Euclid, Ohio, has been arrested and charged with homicide by vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, and improper turn.
