Man from Crestview Injured in Serious Pedestrian-Vehicle Accident
CRESTVIEW, FL – According to an online news report at nwfdailynews.com, a man from Crestview, Florida was seriously injured in a pedestrian-vehicle accident.*
A man from Crestview, Florida sustained critical injuries after walking into the path of a passenger vehicle on James Lee Boulevard close to Victory Lane.
The Crestview police were dispatched to the scene of the collision right after 8:30 p.m., per a press release from the Crestview Police Department. According to eyewitnesses, a sixty one year old man was a pedestrian along the median of an unlit part of James Lee Boulevard. The man was attempting to go across the roadway and unexpectedly, came into the path of a vehicle driven by a thirty year old man from Crestview. The man attempted to swerve out of the way of the male pedestrian, but was unable to avoid hitting him.
The man was transported to a local hospital by Okaloosa emergency medical personnel, where he is currently listed as in critical condition.
Alcohol and drugs are believed to be a cause as to why the pedestrian was hit. The man who hit the pedestrian was not injured in the accident. It appears that the driver was not driving inappropriately and as such, charges are not expected to be filed.
As a result of the accident, the easterly lane of James Lee Boulevard was blocked off between Victory Lane and Brackin Street for approximately 2 hours while the accident scene was under investigation by the local police.
There are no further details on the accident at this time. The accident remains under investigation by local police.
