One Person Killed in Alleged Drunk Driving Crash in Hollywood, Florida
HOLLYWOOD, FL. – According to an online news report published by sun-sentinal.com, one person was killed in what authorities believe was a drunk driving crash in Hollywood, Florida. Police say that the driver of the one of the vehicles had a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit.*
The collision happened in the late evening on Taft Street in Hollywood. Police and the Sun Sentinel report that at approximately 11:20 p.m., a 2018 Toyota Tacoma was traveling east on Taft Street. In the 6400 block of the roadway, the Tacoma somehow collided with a Toyota Scion.
Following the impact, the Scion was forced into a Mazda pickup truck, while the Tacoma continued on the road and traveled into a gas station parking lot. In the parking lot, the Tacoma crashed into a Ford F-350 truck.
The Sun Sentinel reports that the driver of the Scion was killed in the accident. The victim was described as 48 years old. It is not clear if anyone else, including the drivers of the Mazda or the Ford, was injured in the accident.
The Sun Sentinel states that the driver of the Tacoma, identified as a 34-year-old man from Hollywood, was transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, and he agreed to provide a blood sample. Tests performed on the driver’s blood showed he had a blood alcohol content of .28. The legal limit for driving in Florida is .08.
The Tacoma driver was arrested, according to the Sun Sentinel, and charged with numerous crimes, including driving under the influence resulting in death and injury. He is being held in the Broward County Jail without bond.
