Tractor-Trailer Runs Off Road, Overturns in East Ridge, Tennessee
EAST RIDGE, TN. – According to a news report posted online at newschannel9.com, a tractor-trailer ran off the road and overturned in East Ridge, Tennessee. Authorities say that the tractor-trailer collided with another vehicle on Interstate 75, then veered off the road and turned over in the ditch on the side of the roadway.*
Crews were working during the morning on May 15 to turn the tractor-trailer back upright near the exit to Ringgold Road on I-75 in East Ridge. The tractor-trailer had reportedly been traveling northbound on the interstate shortly before 7 a.m. that day and sideswiped another vehicle. It is not clear how this happened, and no information about the other vehicle was reported.
After this incident, the driver of the tractor-trailer veered off the side of the interstate and traveled into a grass-covered ditch, where the trailer overturned. Photos taken at the scene and posted to the News Channel 9 website show the trailer back upright with damage to the right top side.
News Channel 9 states that the driver of the tractor-trailer had injuries following the accident, including cuts and bruises, but he or she reportedly declined treatment beyond the scene. The driver was not identified in the report.
It is not clear if anyone else was injured in the accident. The news report does not say how many people were in the vehicle that was sideswiped by the tractor-trailer.
The accident caused the I-75 ramp at Ringgold Road to be closed for several hours. Police are still investigating the incident, but News Channel 9 says officers reported that charges would not be filed.
