One Killed in Crash Between Car, Ambulance in Palm Beach County, Florida

May 16, 2019

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report posted at wptv.com, one person was killed and several were injured when a car crashed into an ambulance in Palm Beach County, Florida. The ambulance was transporting a patient at the time, and a car crossed over the median of a roadway.*

The accident happened in the morning on May 13 on Military Trail in Delray Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and WPTV report that at approximately 9:30 a.m., a Chrysler PT Cruiser was headed northbound on Military Trail. Near the area of Tuscany Bay Boulevard, the Chrysler crossed over the center median and traveled into southbound traffic.

After entering the southbound lanes of the roadway, the Chrysler crashed into a southbound Palm Beach County Fire Rescue ambulance. The ambulance hit a curb after the impact and turned onto its side.

WPTV states that the driver of the Chrysler sustained critical injuries in the wreck and was taken to a hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead. She was identified by officials as a 41-year-old woman from Lake Worth, Florida.

WPTV reports that the ambulance had been traveling to Delray Medical Center with a patient at the time of the accident. WPTV further reports that all of the occupants of the ambulance were transported to a hospital. None of these people was identified in the news report.

It is not yet clear what caused the Chrysler driver to veer out of her lane and enter opposite traffic. The accident is still under investigation by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department.
