Three-Vehicle Accident in Walton County Leaves Two Monroe Women Dead
WALTON COUNTY, GEORGIA – According to an online news article published by www.wgauradio.com, two Monroe women sustained fatal injuries in a three-vehicle accident.*
According to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), two women are dead following a tragic three-vehicle accident that happened just before 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of Bold Springs Road and Georgia 11 in Walton County.
Reporting indicates that a 1995 Ford Escort was traveling east on Bold Springs Road when the driver of the vehicle allegedly failed to yield at the intersection of Georgia 11, pulling out in front of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe traveling south on Georgia 11. The Tahoe struck the driver’s side of the Escort, sending the Escort into the northbound lane of Georgia 11 where it struck a concrete truck head-on.
The 37-year-old Monroe woman driving the Escort died while being transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries. The 53-year-old passenger of the Escort, also a Monroe woman, died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Tahoe was transported to Piedmont Walton Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, and the concrete truck driver did not sustain any injuries in the accident.
An accident reconstruction team was called to the accident scene to determine the cause. Authorities have stated that they believe the 37-year-old driver of the Escort was under the influence of drugs at the time of the accident. As such, because she has passed away, no criminal charges are pending against anyone involved in the accident. It is unclear whether any other factors contributed to the cause of the accident.
