Pedestrian Dies After Hit by Pickup Truck in Crisp County, Georgia
CRISP COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted online at wctv.tv, a pedestrian died after being hit by a pickup truck in Crisp County, Georgia. Authorities say they received a call about a pedestrian on a highway and moments later received reports that the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.*
At approximately 7 a.m. on May 6, the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office received a call saying that a pedestrian was walking on Georgia Highway 90. The pedestrian was reportedly walking in the northbound lane of the highway, and motorists contacted authorities about the danger posed to the person and motorists.
Moments later, as deputies were responding, they received another call saying that the pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. Deputies arrived to find that a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck had hit the pedestrian on Highway 90 North, near the area of Brock Road. It appeared from preliminary investigation that the pedestrian was trying to walk across the highway.
WCTV states that the pedestrian sustained traumatic injuries, and he died at the scene. Officials investigating the case identified him as a 46-year-old man from Cordele, Georgia.
WCTV further reports that the driver of the Toyota pickup truck was not injured in the accident. The driver’s name was not released by authorities. It is not clear at this time whether the driver will be charged in connection with the crash.
Crisp County Sheriff’s Office traffic division is investigating the accident, and the investigation has not been completed. At the time of the WCTV report’s posting online, deputies had not provided additional information to the media.
