Pedestrian Injured in Vehicle Collision in Houston County, Georgia

HOUSTON COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news report posted at, a pedestrian was injured in a vehicle collision that took place in Houston County, Georgia. Neither the driver nor the pedestrian has been identified at this time, and officials are still completing their investigation of the accident.*

The accident occurred in the late evening hours of Wednesday, May 8, on Houston Lake Road in Houston County. The Houston County Sheriff’s Office and WGXA report that at about 9:30 p.m. that day, a vehicle ran into a pedestrian in the northbound lanes of Houston Lake Road, near Feagin Mill Road. The circumstances of the accident are still not completely clear.

The report from WGXA does not say whether the pedestrian was trying to cross the roadway or was walking northbound along the roadway. The report says that the pedestrian stepped into oncoming traffic but does not provide any other explanations for the collision.

WGXA states that the pedestrian was injured in the accident, and emergency responders transported him or her to a nearby hospital. Officials have not identified the pedestrian and have not provided updated information about his or her condition. 

The make and model of the vehicle were not reported, and the driver was not identified. It is unclear whether the driver will be charged. 

Investigators were at the scene for several hours, during which time the area was blocked off. Drivers were urged to seek alternate routes until approximately 11 p.m. Deputies are still in the process of reviewing the case, and they ask that anyone who might have information about the accident contact the Houston County Sheriff’s Office by calling (478) 542-2125.
