Motorcyclist Sustains Injuries in Macon Accident with Tractor-Trailer

May 11, 2019

MACON, GEORGIA – As reported online by, a man was transported to the hospital for injuries resulting from a motorcycle accident with a tractor trailer.*

On the morning of May 7, 2019, a 55-year-old Byron man was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in Macon when he was involved in an accident with a tractor-trailer.  According to local police, the accident happened around 10:30 a.m. near the intersection of Pio Nono Avenue and Glendale Avenue in Macon.

The 55-year-old man was traveling north on Pio Nono Avenue when he approached a tractor-trailer exiting the Bojangles parking lot.  According to local deputies, to avoid a direct collision with the tractor-trailer, the 55-year-old man jumped off of his Harley Davidson and layed the motorcycle down.

Witnesses state that the 55-year-old man was “speeding excessively” at the time of the accident.  The man was transported to Navicent Health for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening.  Additional details about this accident have not been released, such as the motorcyclist’s current condition, how fast he was riding his Harley Davidson, and whether any other traffic violations may have contributed to the accident.

Examples of possible contributing factors are only speculation and may include, among others, failing to yield, driving under the influence, and inattentive driving.  Whether the 55-year-old motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident is unknown.  While the motorcyclist may have been speeding on his Harley Davidson, according to witnesses, the outcome of the accident may have been worse if he would have stayed on his motorcycle and slammed into the tractor-trailer.  By jumping off the motorcycle, he may have minimized the severity of his injuries.
