Anyone who faces the morning commute understands that it can be chaotic.  From traffic congestion to distracted or aggressive drivers, the roadway can be hazardous. To prevent yourself from becoming an accident victim of the morning commute, the most integral step is to first understand the common causes of serious accidents.  The top three common causes of morning commute-related accidents are as follows:

  • Distracted driving.  Many drivers, especially during the morning commute, attempt to multi-task in the car as they drive to work. Whether it be eating or drinking, talking on a cellphone, texting or applying makeup, these distractions can lead to serious and sometimes fatal accidents.
  • Inclement weather.  Bad weather such as snow, ice, and heavy rain can cause the roadways to become hazardous, sometimes leading to serious accidents.  With so many drivers in a rush to get to work, this can result in a driver not paying attention to avoid weather related accidents.
  • Speeding.  Drivers during the morning commute are understandably in a hurry to get to work.  This can lead to drivers going in excess of the speed limit, which can result in a serious if not fatal accident.
