Pedestrian Airlifted After Collision with Vehicle in Century, Florida

CENTURY, FL. – According to news reports posted online at and, a pedestrian was seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital after a collision with a vehicle in Century, Florida. Both news reports state that the pedestrian was cited by Florida Highway Patrol in connection with the accident.*

The accident took place on North Century Boulevard in Century. Florida Highway Patrol and the news reports state that at about 7:20 p.m. that day, a pedestrian was standing on the sidewalk of North Century Boulevard, near the Century Branch Library, and she started to walk into the roadway. 

Troopers say the pedestrian entered the path of an oncoming northbound vehicle, and the vehicle hit her. The vehicle was described as a 1999 Buick Park Avenue. It is not clear at this time why the pedestrian started into the road. The report from Pensacola News Journal states that she was not inside a crosswalk but does not say whether a crosswalk was in the area.

Both news reports state that the pedestrian sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Sacred Heart Hospital via LifeFlight. She was identified by officials as a 26-year-old woman from Pensacola, Florida. 

The driver of the Buick was reportedly not injured in the collision. He was identified as a 52-year-old man from Century.

The news reports both state that Florida Highway Patrol cited the pedestrian for the accident. Pensacola News Journal says she was cited for crossing outside of a crosswalk, and says she was cited for failing to yield to an oncoming vehicle.
