Troopers Investigating Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Accident in Pensacola, Florida

May 11, 2019

PENSACOLA, FL. – According to an online news story reported at weartv.com, Troopers with Florida Highway Patrol are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Pensacola, Florida. The news report states that a pedestrian was injured in the accident. The victim has not been identified at this time.*

The collision occurred in the evening on May 7 on Mobile Highway in Pensacola. Officials in Escambia County and WEAR report that a pedestrian was walking in the area of Mobile Highway and North New Warrington Road at approximately 9:30 p.m. and was hit by a passing vehicle. The circumstances of the accident are not fully reported.

It is unclear if the pedestrian was walking across the highway or along the highway, and the report does not say what direction the vehicle had been traveling. It appears that the driver of the vehicle left the scene, as Florida Highway Patrol has listed the incident as a hit-and-run.

WEAR reports that the pedestrian was transported by emergency responders to Baptist Hospital for treatment of injuries. The extent of his injuries was not reported, nor was his current condition. His name and identifying information were not released.

At the time of the WEAR report’s publishing online, Troopers had not released any information about the vehicle, including make, model, or color, and had not reported any information about a suspect. The accident is still under investigation at this time.

WEAR reports that both of the west lanes of Mobile Highway were closed following the accident. It is not clear how long the roadway was shut down.
