Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision in Orlando, Florida

ORLANDO, FL. – According to a news report published online at mynews13.com, the Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in Orlando, Florida. Troopers report that a pedestrian was killed after being struck by three vehicles, and one of the drivers involved left the scene.* 

The accident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday, May 6, on Old Winter Garden Road in Orlando. Florida Highway Patrol and News 13 report that at approximately 12:20 a.m., a pedestrian was attempting to cross Old Winter Garden Road near Dorcher Road. Troopers say that the pedestrian was walking outside of a crosswalk and walked into the path of three westbound vehicles. 

Troopers did not say whether a crosswalk was available at or near the intersection. One of the westbound vehicles struck the pedestrian, after which two additional vehicles hit him. Florida Highway Patrol said the second and third vehicles could not avoid hitting the pedestrian. The first vehicle left the scene of the accident. 

News 13 reports the pedestrian was fatally injured. He was identified by officials investigating the case as a 38-year-old man from Orlando. It does not appear that anyone else was injured in the accident, and no one else involved was identified in the report. 

None of the vehicles involved in the accident was described in the report, including the missing vehicle. Troopers are still looking for the driver who left the scene, according to News 13, and they ask anyone who might have information to call Florida Highway Patrol at (407) 737-2213.
