73-Year-Old Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident in Savannah, Georgia
SAVANNAH, GA. – According to an online news report posted at fox28media.com, a 73-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle accident in Savannah, Georgia. The Savannah Police Department is still investigating the accident to determine what happened, but the victim and the other driver have been identified.*
The accident took place in the evening on May 4 at an intersection in Savannah. The Savannah Police Department and Fox 28 report that at about 8:30 p.m. that day, a Buick Century was traveling northbound on Bulloch Street, approaching the intersection with Amaranth Avenue.
Officers report that a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling on Amaranth Avenue, approaching Bulloch Street, at the same time. For reasons not yet known, the Buick and the Chevy drove into the intersection of the two roadways simultaneously, and the two vehicles ended up colliding. After impact, the Buick traveled northwest and crashed into a utility pole.
Fox 28 reports that the Buick driver died from his injuries. Officials identified him as a 73-year-old man from Savannah. Fox 28 further reports the Chevy driver sustained injuries in the wreck. He was identified as a 28-year-old man. It is not clear if he was treated at the scene or taken to a local hospital.
It does not appear that any passengers were riding in either of the vehicles at the time of the accident. The cause of the accident has not been determined, and no potential factors involved in the wreck have been reported. The Traffic Investigation Unit of the Savannah Police Department is still investigating.
