Multi-Vehicle Accident in Charlotte Leaves One Person Dead
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA – According to an online news article published by wsoctv.com, one person was killed in a multi-vehicle morning accident.*
Around 9:00 a.m. on May 2, 2019, a three-vehicle accident on Freedom Drive near Lundy Lane in west Charlotte left one person dead. According to witnesses, a Chevrolet Venture was speeding on Freedom Drive when the vehicle crossed the center line into oncoming traffic traveling in the opposite direction, striking a Ford Econoline head-on. A Ford Taurus was unable to avoid the accident and struck the Chevrolet Venture.
The driver of the Venture was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Whether the occupants of the other two vehicles involved in the accident sustained injuries is unknown, as no information has been released about their condition.
Local police reported that they believe both speeding and impairment may have played a role in the cause of this accident. However, police have not stated a specific cause of the accident at this time. Police also report that the driver of the Chevrolet Venture was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Additionally, it is not uncommon for multiple drivers to share the blame in causing an accident. As such, it is important for law enforcement officials and accident investigators to thoroughly evaluate an accident from each driver’s perspective and ask every witness to provide a statement as to what he/she saw before reaching a definitive conclusion.
