Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Cape Coral, Florida
CAPE CORAL, FL. – According to an online news report posted at fox4now.com, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Cape Coral, Florida. The victim has not been identified, and authorities have not released information about the suspected driver involved in the accident. Investigation is ongoing.*
The collision occurred in the early morning on Friday, May 3, on Cape Coral Parkway in Cape Coral. The Cape Coral Police Department and Fox 4 report that at about 6:30 a.m., a pedestrian was walking in the area of Cape Coral Parkway and Coronado Parkway, when a vehicle hit him or her.
The vehicle had been traveling west on Cape Coral Parkway. It is not clear what direction the pedestrian was walking or where in the roadway the pedestrian was at the time of the accident. Police said the pedestrian was not inside of a crosswalk at the time, but the Fox 4 report did not say whether a crosswalk was available at the intersection.
Fox 4 reports that the pedestrian was fatally injured. No identifying information was released about him or her. The driver of the vehicle did not stop after the collision and left the scene, according to police. No description of the vehicle was reported by Fox 4.
Later in the day, police officers reported that they had identified a vehicle that might have been involved in the collision and a potential suspect. Officers did not released information about the vehicle or the suspect. It is not clear whether the suspect is in custody. The Cape Coral Police Department’s investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
