Man Hit by Vehicle on I-75 in Crisp County, Georgia

CRISP COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story reported online at cordeledispatch.com, a man was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 75 in Crisp County, Georgia. The man had reportedly been involved in a two-vehicle collision and was hit by a third vehicle when he got out of his car. He sustained serious injuries.*

The accident took place in the late evening on Thursday, May 2, on I-75 in Crisp County. Georgia State Patrol and the Cordele Dispatch report that at approximately 9:30 p.m. that day, a Honda Accord was traveling north on I-75 and ran into the back of a dump truck near mile marker 95. It is not clear what caused this accident.

Following the rear-end collision, the driver of the Honda got out of his car and was standing on the roadway, when a passing vehicle hit him. The Cordele Dispatch says the driver of the third vehicle attempted to swerve, and the vehicle’s side mirror hit the man. 

The Cordele Dispatch reports that the victim sustained serious injuries, and emergency crews took him to Crisp Regional Hospital. He was stabilized, according to the report, and then transferred to the Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon, Georgia. His current condition is not known. Officials identified him as a 35-year-old man from Union City, Georgia. 

It does not appear that anyone else was injured in the accident. The dump truck was reportedly registered to a company in Macon. The driver of the third vehicle is a Florida resident. Georgia State Patrol reported that no charges had been filed against the dump truck driver or the driver of the third vehicle.
