Motorcycle Accident Injuries
Motorcycles are extremely popular in Florida, but because they are small and do not afford riders the same protection as vehicles, riders are at risk of sustaining severe injuries that are often permanent or fatal. Helmets have proven to help reduce the severity of head injuries. However, helmets cannot prevent all motorcycle accident injuries. Examples of additional motorcycle accident injuries that many Florida riders face include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Fractured bones;
- Deep cuts and lacerations;
- Burns;
- Injuries to internal organs;
- Torn muscles, tendons or ligaments;
- Internal bleeding; and
- Death.
Motorcycle accidents can be catastrophic and are often unpredictable. Because motorcycles are smaller than passenger vehicles and trucks, some motorcycles go unnoticed and are not seen until after it is too late. Both motorcyclists and other motorists share a responsibility to promote safety on Florida roads and highways.
