Woman Faces Third DUI Charge After Rear-Ending and Injuring Officer in Atlanta Accident

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – As reported online by wsbtv.com, a 30-year-old woman is facing a third DUI charge after rear-ending and injuring an Atlanta police officer.*

Right before 2:00 a.m. on April 28, 2019, a 30-year-old woman rear-ended an off-duty police officer who was patrolling near the intersection of Northside Drive and Woodward Way in Northwest Atlanta.  The woman was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and was speeding at the time she rear-ended the off-duty police officer. The impact of the collision caused the off-duty police officer’s SUV to slam into a guardrail, with a creek just on the other side.

A witness stated that the crash woke him up, describing the impact as “pretty violent.”  The 40-year-old off-duty police officer sustained broken bones from the accident. 

According to police, the 30-year-old woman who struck the off-duty police officer is facing a third DUI charge in connection with the accident and may be facing additional charges for other traffic violations.
