State Highway Patrol Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver in Brunswick County, North Carolina
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC. – According to an online news story posted at portcitydaily.com, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol is searching for a driver involved in a deadly pedestrian crash. The driver reportedly fled the scene and has not yet been located. Troopers are asking the public for assistance in making an arrest.*
After conducting a preliminary investigation into the fatal collision, Troopers with North Carolina State Highway Patrol are asking for the public to help them locate a missing driver. The accident reportedly took place on Tuesday, April 30 on Marlowtown Road in Brunswick County. Sgt. Michael Baker with State Highway Patrol said the collision involved a pedestrian and a vehicle.
Baker said the collision occurred near Calabash, North Carolina, and that a vehicle of unknown make and model hit a pedestrian. Port City Daily and Troopers report that the pedestrian died of his injuries at the scene of the accident. He was identified by authorities as a 49-year-old man from Calabash.
After the crash, the driver of the vehicle left the scene. He or she was already gone when officers arrived. Troopers have not yet determined the cause of the collision, and they did not provide information about the factors they might be investigating as having played a role in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, and Troopers are still looking for the driver. No description of the vehicle or the driver was included in the news report.
