One Person Killed in Crash with Two Semi-Trucks in Martin County, Florida

May 06, 2019

MARTIN COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news story reported by wptv.com, one person was killed in a crash with two semi-trucks in Martin County, Florida. The victim was driving a pickup truck that was rear-ended by one semi-truck, according to the report, which sent the pickup into the path of another semi-truck.*

The accident took place during the morning on April 30 on SW Warfield Boulevard in Indiantown, Martin County, Florida. Troopers with Florida Highway Patrol and WPTV report that at approximately 10:30 a.m., a Dodge Dakota pickup truck was traveling north on SW Warfield Boulevard. The pickup reportedly slowed down near the intersection with SW Tommy Clements Street (it is not clear why) and was rear-ended by a northbound semi-truck.

The force of the impact caused the Dodge to spin and enter southbound traffic on Warfield Boulevard, where a southbound semi-truck then crashed into the back of the pickup. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the initial rear-end collision. The report from WPTV does not list any factors that might have led to this accident.

WPTV reports that the driver of the Dodge was ejected from the vehicle after the second impact and died at the scene. Officials have not released identifying information about him or her. It is not clear if anyone else was riding in the pickup.

WPTV also reports that the drivers of the two semi-trucks were not injured in the crash. Neither of these drivers was identified. Florida Highway Patrol is in the process of investigating the accident, and at the time of the WPTV report’s posting online, Troopers had not released additional information.
