Three-Vehicle Accident Results in Death of Woman in Liberty County, Georgia

May 05, 2019

LIBERTY COUNTY, GA. – According to a news report posted online at wgxa.tv, a three-vehicle accident resulted in the death of a woman in Liberty County, Georgia. Six other people were injured in the wreck, including four children. The accident initially involved two vehicles and ended up involving a third because of the path of one of the vehicles after impact.*

The accident took place in the early morning on April 29 on State Road 25 in Liberty County. At approximately 6 a.m. that day, a GMC Envoy and a Dodge Caliber were traveling southbound on State Road 25, approaching Smiley Hall Road. The Dodge was in front of the GMC and slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Smiley Hall Road.

The GMC then crashed into the back of the Dodge, after which the Dodge was forced into the path of northbound traffic. A northbound Chevrolet Impala then crashed head-on into the Dodge. It is not yet clear why the driver of the GMC did not slow down when the Dodge was waiting to turn left.

Five people were in the Dodge at the time of the wreck, including four children. WGXA reports that the driver died in the crash. She was identified as a 36-year-old woman and the mother of the four children. WGXA further reports that three of the children in the Dodge sustained minor injuries, and one of the children sustained serious injuries.

The driver of the GMC, identified as a 21-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries, according to WGXA, and was treated at Liberty Regional Hospital. WGXA says the driver of the Chevy, identified as a 52-year-old man, was seriously injured and taken to Memorial Hospital.

Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
