Man Struck, Killed by Vehicle in Norcross, Georgia
NORCROSS, GA. – According to an online news story reported at patch.com, a man was struck and killed by a vehicle in Norcross, Georgia. The collision occurred on Interstate 85 and appears to have been preceded by an accident between two vehicles, after which the victim was standing outside of his car on the roadway.*
The events started in the early morning on April 27 on I-85 in Norcross, Gwinnett County, Georgia. The Gwinnett County Police Department and Patch report that at about 4:40 a.m. that day, two vehicles were involved in an accident on the northbound side of the interstate, near Jimmy Carter Boulevard.
Police say the collision was minor in nature, and both vehicles came to a stop in the right lane of the I-85 North. One of the drivers then got out of his vehicle and was standing in the roadway, when a northbound 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse hit him. The cause of the initial accident is not yet known.
Patch reports that the man who was hit by the Mitsubishi was tragically killed in the collision. He was identified as a 54-year-old man. His area of residence was not reported. Patch says his relatives have been notified about the accident.
It is not clear if anyone else was injured in the accident. No information was reported about the second driver involved in the first crash with the victim. The driver of the Mitsubishi was identified as a 30-year-old woman from Lawrenceville, Georgia.
The Gwinnett County Police Department is still investigating the accident, and at the time of the Patch report’s publishing, officers had not released additional information.
