State Troopers Investigating Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Crash in Marion County, AL
MARION COUNTY, AL. – According to an online news story reported by trussvilletribune.com, Alabama State Troopers are investigating a pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred in Marion County, Alabama. Troopers say that the pedestrian was killed in the accident, and the driver involved left the scene.*
The accident took place in the early morning hours of April 30 on Interstate 22 in Marion County, The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and The Trussville Tribune report that at approximately 5 a.m. that day, a pedestrian was struck by a tractor-trailer near mile marker 25 on I-22. The cause of the accident is not yet known.
It is unclear what direction the tractor-trailer was traveling at the time, and the news report does not say where on the roadway the pedestrian was walking or standing. Authorities did not provide an explanation for the pedestrian’s presence on the interstate, and they did not say what circumstances led to the collision.
The Trussville Tribune reports that the pedestrian was sadly killed in the accident. He was identified by officials investigating the case as a 56-year-old man from Empire, Alabama.
After the collision, Troopers say the driver of the tractor-trailer did not remain at the scene but kept driving on I-22.
