Man Hit, Killed by Vehicle on Interstate in Pasco County, Florida
PASCO COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story posted online by abcactionnews.com, a man was hit and killed by a vehicle on an interstate in Pasco County, Florida. The report says the man had crashed his vehicle and was trying to help a passenger trapped in the vehicle, when a passing motorist struck him.*
The incident took place in the early morning on April 29 on Interstate 75 in Pasco County. Florida Highway Patrol reports that at about 2 a.m., a Toyota Tacoma was traveling south on I-75 and crashed into the guardrail in the center median near Blanton Road. It is not clear what caused this collision. Troopers said the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle.
The Toyota overturned after the impact and came to a stop in the middle of a lane of travel. The Toyota driver was able to exit the vehicle, but a passenger in the Toyota was trapped. The driver was attempting to pull the passenger from the Toyota, when a Chevrolet Sonic traveling on the interstate ran into him.
ABC reports that the Toyota driver sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was identified as a 23-year-old man from Brooksville, Florida. The passenger from the Toyota was seriously injured, according to ABC, and he was airlifted to Bayonet Point. He was identified as a 21-year-old man.
ABC further reports that the driver of the Chevy and a passenger in the Chevy, who were not identified, sustained minor injuries. Florida Highway Patrol said the Chevy driver did not see the Toyota before the second collision, and he or she would not face charges.
