Woman Killed in Head-On Vehicle Crash in Monroe County, Georgia

MONROE COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news story from, a woman was killed in a head-on vehicle collision that occurred in Monroe County, Georgia. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the case, and deputies have not yet identified a cause for the accident.* 

The accident occurred during the morning on April 27 on High Falls Road in Monroe County. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and 11 Alive report that at about 6:40 a.m. that day, two vehicles were involved in an accident on High Falls Road in the southern part of the Atlanta metro area. Preliminary investigation revealed it was likely a head-on collision.

Deputies believe that the driver of a Jeep was traveling on High Falls Road and crossed over the centerline of the roadway. They did not report on potential reasons that the driver left his lane of travel. Deputies said that it appears the Jeep then crashed head-on into a Nissan. The models of the vehicles were not reported. 

According to 11 Alive, the driver of the Nissan was killed in the collision. She was identified as a 68-year-old woman from Jackson, Georgia. Another online report from says that the victim was a nurse at Monroe County hospital and was on her way to work at the time of the collision. 

The Jeep driver was identified as a man from Forsyth, Georgia. 11 Alive reports that he sustained minor injuries in the crash. It is not clear if he was transported to a hospital. Deputies have not yet said whether the man will face charges in connection with the accident.
