Vehicle Accident Leaves One Person Injured in Augusta, Georgia

AUGUSTA, GA. – According to a news report posted online at, a vehicle accident in Augusta, Georgia, left one person injured. No one involved in the accident has been identified, and investigators have not released information about the potential cause of the collision, which occurred near a school.*

The accident took place in the morning hours of Friday, April 26, at an intersection in Augusta. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and WRDW report that at about 7:30 a.m. that day, a car accident occurred at the crossing of Central Avenue and Baker Avenue. The wreck occurred by the Lamar Alternative School. 

It is unclear from the news report how many vehicles were involved in the collision. The WRDW report did not say what types of vehicles were involved in the collision and did not list any vehicle makes or models. Authorities responding to the scene did not immediately provide information about the cause of the wreck or the circumstances they might be looking into as contributors to the wreck. 

A photo taken at the scene and posted on the website for WRDW shows a vehicle lying on its side on the edge of the roadway. The vehicle appears to be a Toyota, but the type of vehicle cannot be discerned. It is heavily damaged and looks to have nearly landed in the front yard of someone’s home. 

Officials reported that at least one person was injured. They did not say how seriously this person was injured or whether the person was transported to a hospital. The person was not identified. It is unclear how many people were injured in total.
