Georgia Restaurant Raises Funds for Employee Injured in Hit-and-Run Collision
DEKALB COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news story reported at ajc.com, a Georgia restaurant is raising funds for an employee who was injured in a hit-and-run vehicle collision. The crash occurred during the week of April 15, and the woman sustained serious injuries that have left her hospitalized.*
The crash happened on Interstate 285 on April 17 in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The driver of a 2009 Ford Mustang reportedly crashed into three other vehicles and injured three people, including a woman who works at THERE Gastropub in Brookhaven. The woman’s co-workers and employer say she is badly missed at the restaurant.
“A lot of her customers come here because of her,” said the woman’s boss at the restaurant. “They love her.”
The woman remains hospitalized because of her injuries, and the restaurant created a GoFundMe account to help her with medical expenses. As of the morning of April 26, the account had raised more than $10,000. The money will be necessary, the woman’s boss said, because she had to have surgery and has been left with no income.
“We’re looking forward to the day she walks back in here,” her boss said. “It’s terrible.”
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that one of the other victims of the accident is also still hospitalized with serious injuries. At the time of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution report, the Sandy Springs Police Department had not yet located the driver of the Mustang or released any information about potential suspects.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with potential information is urged to contact police as soon as possible.
