Police Officer Injured in Vehicle Accident in Clayton County, Georgia
CLAYTON COUNTY, GA. – According to a news story posted online at news-daily.com, a police officer was injured in a vehicle accident that occurred in Clayton County, Georgia. Georgia State Patrol concluded during preliminary investigation that the driver of the other vehicle was at fault in the collision, according to the news report.*
The accident took place during the early morning on April 25 on Gardenwalk Boulevard in Clayton County. The Clayton County Police Department and the Clayton News-Daily report that at about 3:30 a.m. that day, a Clayton County police officer was traveling in the area and was involved in an accident with another vehicle.
Emergency crews, including Clayton Fire and Emergency Services, responded to the call about a vehicle crash and found that one of the drivers was a police officer. The officer was reportedly trapped in his patrol cruiser after the collision and had to be cut out of the vehicle.
The Clayton News-Daily reports that both the officer and the other driver were injured in the crash, and they were treated at the scene. The officer was then transported to a nearby hospital for additional treatment. Both were said to be in stable condition. Neither the officer nor the other driver was identified in the news report.
Georgia State Patrol Troopers conducted investigation of the accident, and the Clayton Daily-News reports that they found the other driver to be at fault. Officers said the driver did not yield to oncoming traffic when pulling onto Gardenwalk Boulevard. It is not clear if the driver was cited or would be charged.
