Pastor Killed in Vehicle Accident in York County, South Carolina
YORK COUNTY, SC. – According to a news report published online at charlotteobserver.com, a pastor was killed in a vehicle accident in York County, South Carolina. One other person was injured in the collision, according to authorities. The accident is still under investigation by South Carolina Highway Patrol.*
The collision happened on the morning of April 24 at an intersection in York County. South Carolina Highway Patrol and The Charlotte Observer report that at about 7:30 a.m. that day, two vehicles somehow collided at the crossing of South Carolina Highway 5 and Gordon Road.
The circumstances of the crash and the cause of the crash were not included in the report. The makes and models of the two vehicles were also not reported.
The Charlotte Observer says that the driver of one of the vehicles was injured in the wreck and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was identified as a 61-year-old man from York, South Carolina. Troopers did not know the extent of his injuries at the time of the report.
The Charlotte Observer additionally reports that the driver of the other vehicle was airlifted from the scene of the accident and died at a hospital in Charlotte. The York County Coroner’s Office identified her as a 70-year-old woman from Chester County, South Carolina. Her family told reporters that she had been a pastor for more than 40 years and was currently serving at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and Richmond United Methodist Church.
South Carolina Highway Patrol is still in the process of investigating the accident to determine what happened.
