Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Pickup Truck in Bellevue, Tennessee

BELLEVUE, TN. – According to a news story posted online at, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck in Bellevue, Tennessee. Upon initial investigation, authorities reportedly believe the accident might have been caused by a failure to yield, and charges are pending.*

The accident happened in the late afternoon hours of April 24 on Highway 70 in Bellevue. At about 4:30 p.m. that day, authorities and the Tennessean report that a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling east on Highway 70, approaching Newsom Station Road. At the intersection, police report that a pickup truck that had been traveling west on the highway attempted to turn left.

In making the left turn at Newsom Station Road, the pickup pulled into the path of the motorcycle, and the two vehicles crashed into each other. The front of the motorcycle hit the passenger’s side of the pickup truck, according to police. It is not completely clear what caused the driver of the truck to turn before traffic was clear.

The Tennessean reports that the motorcyclist was ejected from the bike during impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as a 69-year-old man from Nashville, Tennessee. It does not appear that any passengers were on the motorcycle at the time of the accident.

The Tennessean further reports that the driver of the pickup truck did not sustain serious injuries in the wreck. He was identified as a 76-year-old man. 

Authorities said that it did not appear that drugs or alcohol were involved in the wreck, but police believed that the collision occurred because the pickup driver failed to yield. Officers reported that charges were pending the outcome of the investigation.
