Two Men Hit by Vehicle in Leon County, Florida
LEON COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report posted online at wxtl.com, two men were hit by a vehicle in Leon County, Florida. Both of the men were injured in the accident, but officials have reported that their injuries are not life-threatening. Investigators are still reviewing the case to determine what happened.*
The accident took place in the late afternoon on April 24 at an intersection in Leon County. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office and WTXL report that at about 3 p.m., a blue 2002 GMC Envoy was attempting to turn onto eastbound West Tennessee Street from Tennessee Capitol Boulevard. The GMC then reportedly ran into two pedestrians who were trying to cross the roadway.
It is not yet clear what events led to the collision, but deputies investigating the case said they were able to determine that the GMC driver had the right-of-way at the time of the accident. It is also not clear if the pedestrians were inside a crosswalk when they were crossing the roadway.
WTXL reports that both pedestrians sustained injuries, and emergency responders took them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening, but they remained hospitalized. They were both identified as 53-year-old men. Their cities of residence were not reported.
No information about the GMC driver was included in the WTXL news report. It is not clear if the driver sustained any injuries, and the report did not say whether any passengers were riding in the vehicle at the time.
Investigators with the Leon County Sheriff’s Office were at the scene for several hours gathering evidence. At the time the WTXL report was posted online, deputies had not released further information about the investigation.
