Two Killed, One in Critical Condition After Head-On Crash in Holmes County, FL
HOLMES COUNTY, FL. – According to a news report published online at weartv.com, two people were killed, and one person was in critical condition after a head-on vehicle crash that occurred in Holmes County, Florida. Law enforcement officers did not immediately say what caused the accident to take place.*
On the afternoon of April 24, emergency crews and authorities were called to the scene of a head-on vehicle accident on U.S. Highway 90 in Holmes County. Florida Highway Patrol and WEARTV report that a vehicle was traveling east on U.S. 90 and crossed over the centerline of the roadway.
The eastbound vehicle then entered westbound traffic on the highway and collided head-on with another vehicle. Authorities do not yet know what caused the eastbound driver to leave her lane of travel. They were not immediately able to determine the circumstances that might have led to the accident.
WEARTV reports that the driver of the eastbound vehicle was killed in the collision. She was identified as a 35-year-old woman from Augusta, Georgia. In addition, WEARTV reports that a passenger in the other vehicle died in the crash. He was identified as a 75-year-old man from Slocomb, Alabama.
WEARTV further states that the driver of the second vehicle was seriously injured and airlifted from the scene of the crash to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. He was identified as a 72-year-old man from Slocomb. He is reportedly in critical condition.
The accident caused both lanes of U.S. 90 to close down. Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.
