Three People Injured in Vehicle Accident in Belleview, Florida
BELLEVIEW, FL. – According to a news report published online at ocala.com, three people were injured in a vehicle accident in Belleview, Florida. The news report states that one person was injured when ejected from a vehicle, and two people from another vehicle were also injured in the wreck.*
The accident occurred on the afternoon of April 23 on 100th Avenue in Belleview. Florida Highway Patrol and the Ocala StarBanner report that a 2001 Chevrolet SUV (model not reported) was traveling south on Southeast 100th Avenue, when the driver failed to maintain his lane on a curve in the 13000 block of the roadway.
In failing to maintain the lane of travel, the Chevy driver crossed over the middle line of the roadway and entered oncoming traffic. The Chevy reportedly traveled to the side and crashed into a Toyota Camry. After impact, the Chevy overturned.
The Ocala StarBanner reports that the driver of the Chevy was ejected during the wreck and sustained injuries. He was identified as a 19-year-old man from Ocala, Florida. Troopers reported that he was not wearing a seat belt before the crash.
In addition, according to the Ocala StarBanner, the driver of the Toyota was trapped inside the vehicle after the crash, and firefighters had to cut open the vehicle to free him. The report states that both the driver, a 90-year-old man from Summerfield, Florida, and a passenger in the Toyota, an 86-year-old woman from Summerfield, were injured.
All three injured persons were taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center, according to the report. The Toyota driver is reportedly in critical condition. Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating.
