Several Injured in Suspected DUI Crash in Baldwin County, Georgia
BALDWIN COUNTY, GA. – According to an online news story reported at unionrecorder.com, several people were injured in a vehicle crash in Baldwin County, Georgia, that authorities believe was related to driving under the influence. A teenager has been placed under arrest in connection with the accident, according to the report.*
The Union-Recorder reports that an 18-year-old man from Milledgeville, Georgia, was placed under arrest after a vehicle wreck on April 20 in Baldwin County. Authorities said he was charged with driving under the influence because of the crash, which caused injuries to three people.
In addition, the Union-Recorder reports that the teen was charged with minor in possession of alcohol, failure to stop at a stoplight, and violation of open container laws. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says that additional charges might be tacked on, depending on how seriously the three people were injured.
The accident reportedly occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on April 20 at the crossing of Georgia Route 22 and Kings Road. The teen was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima and somehow crashed. Details of the crash itself were not included in the news report. It is unclear if the accident involved more than one vehicle.
Deputies said they smelled alcohol on the teen driver and found empty beer cans and unopened beer inside the vehicle. The Union-Recorder reports that the driver consented to a blood test, but the results of that test were not reported.
None of the injured persons was identified in the news report. Investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
