CALHOUN, GA. – According to an online news report posted at mdjonline.com, a motorcyclist was released from a hospital after being airlifted from the site of a vehicle wreck in Calhoun, Georgia. The Calhoun Police Department says a medical helicopter took the motorcyclist to Erlanger Hospital, and he was released the following day.*
The Calhoun Police Department and the Marietta Daily Journal report that a man was involved in a vehicle collision on April 18 on U.S. Highway 41 in Calhoun, and he was believed to have sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders called in a medical helicopter to take the victim to a local hospital.
The police department says that paramedics found that the motorcyclist was not as seriously injured as previously thought at the scene, and he received treatment for his injuries at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. The report from the Marietta Daily Journal says he had sustained a broken tibia, along with swelling and pain. He was released from treatment on April 19, according to the report.
The accident took place at about 2:30 p.m. on April 18. A vehicle that was traveling south on U.S. 41 reportedly tried to make a U-turn on the highway and traveled into the path of the motorcycle. The vehicle had been in the right southbound lane and moved into the left lane to make the U-turn, where it collided with the motorcycle.
Officers responding to the scene cited the vehicle driver, a man from Chatsworth, Georgia, for improper U-turn, driving with expired tags, driving without insurance, and obstructed view.
