One Person Killed in Multi-Vehicle Wreck in Anderson County, South Carolina
ANDERSON COUNTY, SC. – According to a news report published online at independentmail.com, one person was killed in a multi-vehicle wreck that occurred in Anderson County, South Carolina. The victim has not been identified, and South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the wreck.*
The collision occurred in the afternoon on April 21 on South Carolina Highway 81 in Anderson County. South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Independent Mail report that a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on Highway 81 at approximately 1 p.m. that day. A Toyota sedan was stopped on Piedmont Road facing west at the same time.
At the intersection with Piedmont Road, a Chevrolet Monte Carlo that was traveling north on Highway 81 went through the intersection and hit the Tahoe. The Tahoe then overturned and crashed into the Toyota. It is not clear at this time what led to the collision. Troopers did not say which vehicle or vehicles had the right-of-way.
Lance Cpl. Gary Miller, of South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Independent Mail reported that one person, the driver of the Monte Carlo, was killed in the collision. Miller said this driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. His or her name was not released in the news report. The Independent Mail reported that no one else was riding in the Monte Carlo.
Miller said the drivers and passengers in the other two vehicles were wearing seatbelts. The report from the Independent Mail did not say whether anyone else was injured. South Carolina Highway Patrol Troopers are still looking into the crash and have not released further information.
