Man Killed, Two Critically Injured in Wreck in North Fort Myers, Florida
NORTH FORT MYERS, FL. – According to an online news story reported by fox4now.com, a man was killed, and two people were in critical condition after a vehicle wreck in North Fort Myers, Florida. The news report states that the two injured persons are the wife and daughter of the man who died in the crash.*
The accident occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on April 20 on U.S. Highway 41 in North Fort Myers. Florida Highway Patrol and Fox 4 state that a Jeep Wrangler was traveling on U.S. 41 with a family of five inside. Near Avenue A, the driver of the Jeep somehow lost control. The Jeep then veered into the median and rolled several times before coming to a stop in a ditch.
The driver of the Jeep and his wife were ejected during impact, the report says. Fox 4 reports that the driver of the Jeep was killed in the crash, and his wife and a 5-year-old girl were transported to a hospital with critical injuries. In addition, Fox 4 says two boys who were in the Jeep sustained minor injuries.
Family members of the victims said they are grieving the loss of the father in this family and praying for the others.
“You know that saying ‘the good die young?’ That’s him,” said the sister of the man who was killed in the accident. “He was a loving father. Anything we ever needed … he would take the clothes off his back for anyone.”
Florida Highway Patrol is still looking into the events of the crash. Troopers said the two juvenile boys in the Jeep were wearing seat belts, and the driver was not. It is not clear if the two other were belted at the time of the accident.
