Man Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash in Jacksonville, Florida

JACKSONVILLE, FL. – According to news reports posted online at and, a man was killed in a three-vehicle crash in Jacksonville, Florida. Troopers with Florida Highway Patrol are investigating to determine why the accident took place. Investigators have identified the victim.* 

The accident occurred in the evening on April 19 on Interstate 295 in Jacksonville. Florida Highway Patrol and the news reports state that at approximately 7 p.m., an Infiniti (model not reported) was traveling southbound on I-295, when the driver somehow lost control of the vehicle near Roosevelt Boulevard. 

The Infiniti crossed over the median of the interstate and then crashed into a tractor-trailer. Troopers say the Infiniti then veered after impact and crashed into a Jeep Cherokee. This occurred near U.S. Highway 17. Troopers have not yet determined what caused the driver of the Infiniti to lose control. No potential factors involved in the crash have been released.

The news reports state that the driver of the Infiniti died from his injuries. He was identified as a 37-year-old man. The other two drivers, who were not identified, were not reportedly injured, according to the news reports. 

Two of the southbound lanes on the interstate were closed down after the collision to allow crews to investigate and clear the wreckage. It is not clear how long the closures remained in place. 

The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department posted a message on social media after the accident, saying, “Crews are responding to a traffic accident on I295 northbound south of Roosevelt Boulevard. Multiple vehicles involved on both side of the interstate. Expect long delays.”
