BREVARD COUNTY, FL. – According to an online news report published at clickorlando.com, two people were killed in a motorcycle crash that took place in Brevard County, Florida. The news report states that the two victims were mother and son. Florida Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.*
The crash occurred in the late afternoon of April 20 on Babcock Street in Brevard County. It reportedly involved a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Florida Highway Patrol and ClickOrlando report that at approximately 4:15 p.m., a motorcycle was traveling south on Babcock Street, approaching the intersection with Burgundy Street.
At the intersection, a pickup truck that had been traveling east on Burgundy Street attempted to make a left-hand turn into the northbound lanes of Babcock Street. In making the turn, Troopers say the truck traveled into the path of the motorcycle, and the front of the pickup crashed into the side of the motorcycle.
ClickOrlando reports that the driver and a passenger on the motorcycle were both ejected during the collision and sustained severe injuries. The news report states that the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver died later at a nearby hospital. It is unclear who was operating the bike, but ClickOrlando reports that the victims were mother and son.
The driver of the pickup truck was not identified in the news report, and it is not clear if he or she was injured. The report did not say whether any passengers were in the truck. Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the circumstances of the crash, and Troopers say charges are pending.
