Vehicle Collisions Leaves Motorcyclist Dead in Marietta, Georgia
MARIETTA, GA. – According to a news report published online at mdjonline.com, a vehicle collision left a motorcyclist dead in Marietta, Georgia. The collision involved a passenger car and a motorcycle and occurred on Atlanta Street in Marietta. Officials have identified both of the parties involved in the accident.*
The Marietta Police Department is investigating the deadly crash, which happened on the evening of April 12 at an intersection in Marietta. Police officers and the Marietta Daily Journal report that a 2010 Kawasaki ZX1400 was traveling north on Atlanta Street at approximately 6 p.m. that Saturday. A 2011 Infiniti G37 was traveling on Old Clay Street at the same time.
Police say that at the intersection of Old Clay and Atlanta, the Infiniti attempted to turn left and traveled into the path of the oncoming motorcycle. This caused the front of the motorcycle to collide with the side of the Infiniti. The Marietta Daily Journal reports that the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries in the wreck and died at the scene. He was identified as a 52-year-old man from Marietta.
The Marietta Daily Journal also reports that the driver of the Infiniti was injured in the collision, and emergency crews took him to Kennestone Hospital. His injuries were described as non-life threatening. He was identified as a 40-year-old man from Marietta.
The Marietta Police Department is still investigating the accident, and officers have reported that speeding on the part of the motorcycle might have been a factor in the wreck.
