Woman Killed in Vehicle Wreck in Leon County, Florida
LEON COUNTY, FL. – According to a news story reported online at wtxl.com, a woman was killed in a vehicle wreck in Leon County, Florida. The cause of the accident, which occurred on Interstate 10, is still under investigation, but officials have released identifying information regarding the victim.*
The accident took place in the late evening on I-10 in Leon County. Florida Highway Patrol and WTXL report that at about 11:25 p.m., a semi-truck was traveling west on I-10, when a passenger vehicle rear-ended the semi-truck near mile marker 199.
Troopers did not immediately provide information about the cause of the accident. The make and model of the passenger vehicle were not reported by WTXL, nor was any information about the semi-truck.
WTXL and Troopers report that the driver of the passenger vehicle was fatally injured in the accident, and she tragically died at the scene. She was identified as a 48-year-old woman from Milton, Florida. Florida Highway Patrol reported that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. It does not appear that any passengers were in the vehicle with her.
The report from WTXL did not say whether the driver of the semi-truck was injured. He was identified as a 48-year-old man from Jacksonville, Florida.
Florida Highway Patrol, the Leon County Sheriff’s Office, the Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Fire and Rescue, and Leon County EMS responded to the scene. Troopers are investigating the crash, and they reported they are looking into the possibility of driver impairment.
