CRANSTON, RI. – According to an online news story published at patch.com, a Florida father and son were injured in a vehicle crash in Cranston, Rhode Island. One additional person sustained injuries in the accident, which Patch reports involved only one vehicle.*

The crash took place in the evening on Olney Arnold Road in Cranston. According to the Cranston Police Department and Patch, at about 8:45 p.m. that day, a 2018 Nissan Altima was traveling on Olney Arnold Road, when the driver lost control. The Nissan left the roadway on a curve near Oakridge Drive and struck a mailbox, then crashed into a tree.

Cranston Police said the driver of the Nissan, who was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in the vehicle when emergency crews arrived. Patch states emergency responders had to cut the driver from the vehicle, and he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Patch reports the driver’s child, a 10-year-old boy, was riding in the back seat of the Nissan at the time of the crash and sustained serious injuries. He was walking outside of the vehicle when emergency crews arrived, and they transported him to Hasbro Children’s Hospital for treatment. Police said he was wearing a seat belt.
