Pedestrian Injured in Vehicle Crash in Savannah, Georgia

SAVANNAH, GA. – According to news reports published online by and, a pedestrian was injured in a vehicle crash in Savannah, Georgia. Limited information about the accident has been released at this time, but authorities have identified the victim and the vehicle driver.*

The accident took place in the early evening on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Savannah. At about 6 p.m. that day, a pedestrian was attempting to cross Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, walking east to west at the intersection with West Bryan Street. 

At the same time, a 2010 Honda Fit was attempting to turn left from West Bryan Street into the southbound lanes of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. In making the turn, the Honda struck the pedestrian in the intersection. The reports did not say whether the pedestrian was inside of a crosswalk or whether the pedestrian or the vehicle had the right of way at the time of the collision. 

The news reports indicate that the pedestrian was seriously injured in the collision, and emergency crews transported her to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. She was identified as a 62-year-old woman. The woman’s current medical condition was not reported by WSAV or Fox 28. 

The driver of the Honda was identified as a 32-year-old man. It is unclear if anyone else was in the Honda. The reports did not say whether charges were anticipated in the case. The Traffic Investigation Unit of the Savannah Police Department is handling the case, and officers have not yet released further information.
